Are you an avid blogger? Do your postings average once per day? If so, why not try and make money blogging? You can earn quite a substantial amount just by marinating a blog. The only resources you’ll need are your nimble typing fingers and a few marketers who are willing to pay.

Let’s Get Technical and Define!

Before moving on, it is first important that a few terms are defined. A better understanding of the following terms will result in a better understanding of how you can make money blogging. Don’t worry. The definitions are as short and as simple as they possible can.

BLOG – The term is a shortened form of the words Web Log. It is a basic website that is regularly updated with entries (commentaries, rantings, pictures, videos, etc.) by the blogger.

BLOG MARKETING – It is an internet marketing strategy that involves the use of blogs to market products and services. With Blog Marketing, the Blog Owner –(You! Or referred to as the affiliate) and a product owner, reach an agreement where you agree to place the product ads on your blog. The affiliate is compensated depending on the number of times a visitor clicks on a marketer’s ads.

PAY PER CLICK – A marketer pays an affiliate (i.e. blogger) each time a visitor is redirected to their site through clicking an ad posted on the affiliate’s blog.

How to Make Blogging a Source of Income:

One of the best ways to make money blogging is by taking advantage of Blog Marketing options. One of the most popular choices is AdSense. If you are blogging with Blogger.com, you can easily set up AdSense to your blog by adding AdSense as an element to your page. You can do this by editing your Blog’s layout. You get paid on a Pay Per Click basis.

Yahoo! Also has its own affiliate program in the form of Yahoo! Publisher Network. This is great for bloggers who have a Yahoo!360 blog.

Other Adsense and Yahoo! Publisher Network alternatives include: Chitika, ContextWeb, SearchFeed, Quigo, Adbrite, and much more.

Resist the Urge to Click

Once advertisers have started posting their ads you site – resist the urge to click. No matter what you do, do not click on one of your marketer’s banners. This is a big no-no in Blog Marketing. It is a part of the terms that you agreed upon. Don’t be smug and think that your marketers won’t find out because they will. And once they do, it could mean a termination and invalidation of your agreement with them.
